Hotels

Beth and John's wedding will be held in the beautiful and historic Gloucester, MA. Hopefully, you will be able to take advantage of the long weekend and enjoy some of the activities around town. Beth and John are not scheduling any formal events outside of the barbecue reception on May 29th, but you are encouraged to explore the many entertaining activities offered in this area.

John and Beth with be staying in Gloucester on May 28th-30th, so please feel free to join them for the informal (and most likely disorganized) get togethers that will be sure to take place over the weekend.

Beth and John will be staying at Bass Rocks Ocean Inn, unfortunately, we've filled their limit for groups, so we recommend these other fine establishments...

The following two hotels are on either side of Bass Rocks, so check these out first.

Gloucester Inn by the Sea
85 Atlantic Road
Gloucester, MA 01930
(978) 283-8025

NOTE: We were only shown a suite at this hotel so our opinions may be a little biased. It look well appointed, and had a cute pool facing the ocean. We recommend this as a second choice to Bass Rocks.

Atlantis
125 Atlantic Road
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 283-0014

NOTE: We did not actually get to see a room at this hotel, but it looked very cute from the outside. If you can't wrangle a room at our first two choices, this one should not leaving you wanting.

We did not get a chance to visit this inn, but the innkeeper at Bass Rocks recommended it.

Blue Shutters Beachside Inn
1 Nautilus Road
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 283-1198

If none of these work for you we also visited the following:

Wingaersheek Inn & Motel
46 Concord St.
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 281-0100

NOTE: This hotel is simple and affordable, it's also much closer to the wedding site.

Harbor View Inn
71 Western Ave.
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 283-2277

NOTE: We did not visit this hotel, so you take your chances.

Julietta House
84 Prospect St.
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 281-2300

NOTE: This is a cute Bed & Breakfast that we tried to visit, but it wasn't open. It seemed making arrangements there might be a little hit or miss, there was a note in the basket out front from what appeared to be a guest saying that she had reserved a room, but found no key. I'm not sure what to make of that but...

The Inn at Babson Court
55 Western Ave.
Gloucester, MA 01930
Ph. (978) 281-4469

NOTE: We didn't get a chance to visit this one. But, it has a two night minimum stay, they only have three (3) rooms available. Reservations can be made after January 1, 2010. Rooms could not be blocked for the event.

If you're adventurous and looking for something a bit more "interesting" the happy couple recommends The Crows Nest, the hotel featured in "The Perfect Storm". A fine establishment that boasts that all rooms are available with shag carpet...

Crow's Nest
334 Main St, Gloucester, Massachusetts, 01930, US
Ph. (978) 281-2965
Note: We did visit this one, but we couldn't figure out who to ask to see a room. This bar is definitely worth checking out. It's just the kind of divey place John and Beth like to hang out, gruff fishermen, pool tables, and plenty of beer.

Gloucester Inns appear to have had some trouble with wedding parties in the past. None of them would allow us to block rooms. We apologize for that inconvenience, but we hope you'll be able to join us at either Bass Rocks, Gloucester Inn by the Sea, or Atlantis Oceanfront. Can't wait to see all of you!!
